The Doctors Told Me To Abort My Son — But There Were THREE Other Options

When I was 16 weeks along my doctor told me that my kidneys were swollen with backed up urine. He told me that I should seek termination because it was only going to get worse as the pregnancy progressed, then sent me home without treatment. He didn’t even give me a name to what was happening to me and my baby. Through research I discovered that I had Hydronephrosis and that there were three other options that I was never offered : I could get a stint put into my kidney, have a nephrostomy tube (catheter) inserted, or endure a kidney removal.

I was only ever given the option of abortion. 

The pain eventually became minimal and I let it slip my mind, not knowing my kidney was about to a erupt.  May 24th I went into the hospital thinking I was having contractions and my baby would not stop kicking inside of me. I was going into kidney failure and I was in so much pain that I could barely stand. My kidneys had almost doubled in size and I had passed over 30 small stones.

Finally, on the 25th of May, my son (31 weeks)  and I went through the serious procedure that inserted a nephrostomy tube into my kidneys. I could have died on that table, but I risked it all to give my son a chance at life.

This tube you see is going through my rib cage and into my right kidney. As sore as I am right now I couldn't be more happy knowing me and my little one are okay. I would go through the pain and procedure all over again before I would take my son’s life because it wasn’t just my body in distress — his was too. He wouldn’t keep still and just relax because he knew something was wrong.

I should have been given the options. We women and our babies deserve better than to have the fatal option of abortion so carelessly suggested by our doctors.

“My body, my choice” ?

Where was MY body and MY choice when I wasn’t given the other THREE options that would save both me and my son?


Also, HIS body and HIS life wasn’t even considered in treatment options — except to brutally end his life and reducing his body to pieces of waste.I’m so glad that I did my research and advocated for my son, when doctors had reduced him to a complication , instead of a life worth treating. Our condition has significantly improved since the procedure and I am anxiously awaiting his arrival in July.

    This is the sad state of American "medicine." It has stopped being about helping people and doing no harm and instead is about money and doing things the easy way. We are going to see more and more of this as things continue. If I was this woman, I would write red-hot notes to the doctor and the ER where she was told to get an abortion and shame them to death!!!

    My husband have done all his best to get me pregnant after years of getting married to him.
